1. The Morning Start: Setting the Day Up Right
Our sites typically start early. Before any work begins, there’s a clear plan for what needs to happen that day.
That might include toolbox talks to cover health and safety reminders, a walkaround to check for hazards, or coordination between trades to make sure everyone’s working in the right place at the right time. Clear, early communication keeps things running without clashes or downtime.
It also gives the site manager a chance to highlight any deliveries arriving, any access issues that might come up, or adjustments to the programme.
2. Safety, Signage and Staying Organised
From a distance, a site can look like chaos, but it’s anything but.
Our team follow strict safety protocols every day, with clearly marked walkways, secure storage areas, designated welfare facilities, and the correct PPE worn at all times.
You’ll also notice detailed signage around the site, including emergency contact information, fire point locations, and hazard warnings. It’s all there to make sure everyone knows exactly where they stand (and where not to).
3. Managing Deliveries and Materials
Material management is a huge part of site life. Getting the right materials delivered at the right time is key to avoiding delays — and keeping them safe and dry is just as important.
You’ll often find covered storage areas, off-ground pallets, and protection measures like tarpaulins or sheeting to shield materials from the elements.
Our site managers coordinate deliveries to avoid overcrowding and make sure nothing gets in the way of other trades or machinery.
4. Who’s Who on a Build Site
On any given day, a project might involve groundworkers, electricians, plumbers, joiners, decorators, and more — and that’s before you add in the site team managing it all.
At MPS, we keep our teams consistent. That means you’re more likely to see the same faces on site throughout a project, all working with a clear understanding of the end goal.
The site manager acts as the central point of contact, making sure everyone knows what’s happening and that the job is progressing as planned.
5. Respecting the Community Around Us
Most of our sites are in residential areas, which means we’re always mindful of the neighbours.
That includes keeping noise to a minimum during early hours, ensuring deliveries don’t block driveways, and doing our best to keep the site tidy and contained.
It’s not always glamorous, but it’s part of what we think makes a good contractor - and part of the reason clients trust us to represent their project well from day one.
Final Word
Behind every hoarding is a team of people working hard to bring someone’s vision to life: safely, carefully, and with a lot of coordination.
We’re proud of what happens behind the scenes at MPS, and we’re always happy to walk clients through it. If you’ve ever wondered what’s really going on behind the boards, we hope this gave you a better look.
